Getting Your Glass Items Ready For Pickup

Do I need to rinse glass containers first?

Empty jam/jelly jar

No rinsing required! While you can rinse containers if you prefer to avoid odors in your home, it’s not necessary for our recycling process. Our state-of-the-art facility includes industrial cleaning systems that remove all food residue and organic materials. By skipping the rinse step, you’re actually conserving water—one of our most precious natural resources.

What about broken glass?

Broken glass

Broken glass is absolutely accepted and perfectly recyclable! In fact, our recycling process intentionally breaks all glass into small pieces for proper sorting and cleaning. Simply place broken glass pieces directly in your cart—no special packaging required. This is one of the biggest misconceptions about glass recycling, and we’re here to make it simple for you.

Should I remove labels and lids?

Empty glass jars with lids

No need to remove labels or lids before recycling! Our facility’s advanced sorting equipment automatically separates labels, corks, caps, and other non-glass materials during processing. Metal lids and caps are collected separately and recycled locally. This convenience means you can simply empty your glass containers and place them directly in your recycling cart without any prep work.
