How Glass Recycling Works in Cottonwood Heights

Getting started with glass recycling in your Cottonwood Heights home is simple. First, choose your monthly curbside service and we’ll deliver your purple glass collection bin directly to your door. Second, fill your bin throughout the month with all glass containers—beer bottles, wine bottles, pasta jars, baby food jars—no sorting by color required. Third, place your bin curbside on your scheduled collection day and we’ll pick up your glass and transport it to our Salt Lake City facility.

Your glass gets processed through our state-of-the-art recycling plant, where it’s cleaned, sorted, and transformed into cullet—recycled glass that becomes new products like fiberglass insulation and construction materials, keeping valuable resources in Utah’s economy while reducing landfill waste.

Our Glass Recycling Process

Once we collect your glass from Cottonwood Heights, it heads to our Salt Lake City facility—the only glass recycling plant in the Intermountain West. Your containers are broken into clean pieces, then passed through specialized equipment that removes labels, caps, and contaminants. Next, our optical sorting technology separates glass by color using UV and visible light. Finally, the clean glass pieces are sized into cullet—recycled glass ready to become new fiberglass insulation, sandblasting media, and construction products right here in Utah.
