How Does Curbside Glass Recycling Work In Salt Lake City?

Glass is collected monthly from your curbside in a dedicated 35-gallon container. This separate collection prevents contamination with other recyclables. All colors of glass bottles and jars are accepted without requiring separation.

Collection Schedule

Proper Container Placement

Place your glass recycling container at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Position the container at least three feet away from vehicles or other objects. Do not over ll the container—the lid must close completely.

Momentum Recycling’s curbside glass service is available for small multi-family properties that receive waste services from Salt Lake City. Larger apartment complexes may have different arrangements. If you rent an apartment, check with your property manager to determine if your building participates in the program. If not, you can use one of over 60 public glass drop-off locations throughout the city.

A: While rinsing helps prevent odors in your home, it’s not required. Not washing containers helps conserve water. Our facility is equipped to handle residue during processing.

Q: What About Labels and Lids?

A: Empty containers and remove lids andcorks. You don’t need to remove labels—our processing facility handles that for you. Lids and caps should be placed in your regular mixed recycling bin.

Q: Can I Recycle Broken Glass?

A: Yes, broken glass is perfectly acceptable. In fact, breaking is the  first step in our recycling process. Broken glass is processed into cullet that feels like sand.
