2025 Impact Report: The Tons We Recycled & Diverted Together
Recycling should feel simple. But it should also feel worth it.
That’s why we track landfill diversion and share the results—so you can see the real impact your home, business, or community is making.
In 2025, Momentum customers diverted 32,237 tons of material away from the landfill. And since 2012, we’ve diverted 254,436 tons together.
Thank you for being part of that!
2025 at a glance
Here’s a snapshot of what we diverted in 2025:
- Glass recycling: 13,902 tons
- Food waste recycling: 17,500 tons
- Mixed recycling: 835 tons
- Total diverted & recycled: 32,237 tons
This isn’t abstract “impact.” It’s a measurable shift in how materials are handled in our communities—powered by consistent participation and reliable service.

Since we began
Since launching our diversion programs, here’s what the totals look like:
- Glass recycling: 176,322 tons
- Food waste recycling: 64,616 tons
- Mixed recycling: 13,498 tons
- Total diverted & recycled: 254,436 tons
Big numbers like these come from thousands of small actions—repeated over time—by people who care and communities that show up.

What’s driving diversion right now
Two things stand out in the data:
1) Glass is still a powerhouse
Glass has been a major driver of diversion across the full timeline. In fact, it accounts for roughly 70% of all tons diverted since 2012.
That’s why we’ve invested in glass recycling infrastructure and focused on making the service easy to use—because when it’s convenient and reliable, participation stays high… and the impact adds up.
2) Food waste has surged
Food waste diversion has accelerated dramatically in recent years. Between 2023 and 2024, food waste diversion increased by roughly 12,000 tons—and in 2025, it became the largest share of our total diversion.
That matters because food waste is one of the most common (and heaviest) materials sent to landfill. Diverting it is one of the fastest ways to reduce landfill volume and move the needle in a meaningful way.
Why landfill diversion matters
Landfills fill up. Resources get wasted. And communities lose the chance to do more with materials that can be reused, recycled, or recovered.
Diversion helps change that—practically, locally, and consistently.
But it’s about more than the environment. Diversion builds trust. If you’re making the effort to recycle, you deserve transparency and proof that it’s working. This report is one way we deliver that.
What you can do next
If you’re already a Momentum customer, here are three simple ways to build on this impact:
- Keep it consistent. Regular participation is what makes the numbers climb year after year.
- Help others recycle right. A quick reminder to a new tenant, employee, or neighbor goes a long way.
- Share the story. If you manage a property or business, consider sharing your participation with your community—it reinforces pride and builds momentum.
If you’re not a customer yet (or you’re in an area with limited options), we’d love to help fill the gap with a clear, convenient solution.
Thank you for being part of the recycling momentum!
32,237 tons diverted in 2025.
251,149 tons diverted since 2012.
Those numbers represent thousands of small actions repeated over time—by people who care about doing the right thing, and want a service that makes it easier.
We’re proud to be part of your sustainability story. And we’re excited to keep building what’s next—together.

I have been using Momentum for a few years and love the convenience of twice a month pick up. It’s a great service and so affordable.
I am the only person on my street who has my own small container.
A couple of people on my street have asked if they could add some glass and I have said okay but suggested they try it themselves. Love what you are doing Momentum!!
Thank you Sally! We’re so glad to hear you have been enjoying your recycling service!
